Model Railroad Project Center

Use this page as the control room for your layout. Pick where you are today, follow the next practical step, and use the calculators, checklists and troubleshooting guides only when you need them.

See the hobby as you build it

The Project Center now uses the Depot's existing model-railroad photography to make the stages easier to scan and to keep the hobby area visually consistent.

PROJECT RULE

Build for reliability before detail.

A layout that runs well is fun even before scenery. A beautiful layout that stalls, shorts or derails becomes frustrating. Test track, wiring, clearances and access thoroughly before permanent scenery makes corrections difficult.
