Baggage Cars

Baggage cars carried checked luggage, express shipments, mail and other non-passenger loads on passenger trains.

Where they ran

Baggage cars were usually positioned near the front of the passenger consist, close to stations' baggage and express handling areas.

What they carried

Checked luggage, parcels, express freight and sometimes mail could all move in baggage or combination cars.

Combination cars

Some cars combined baggage space with passenger seating or mail compartments, especially on lighter routes.
